Tuesday quickie post...

...since I'm supposed to be working and all.

Super easy cards today... the first one is from my stamp club night last month: 

 I love making cards with DCWV's 8x8 scalloped cardstock... it adds just the right amount of foof on an otherwise super-simple card.

Stamps:  Toot My Horn, Happy Thoughts

Paper:  DCWV, white Ultrasmooth & black cardstocks

Ink:  Noir & Moulin Rouge Palettes

Other:  Scor-Bug & Scor-Pal, Bone Scrapper's Floss, white ribbon, Glossy Accents, Pop Dots, buttons & black pen

And finally, a truly tiny-scrappy card:

I think it's about 2-1/2" square maybe?  Just the right size to drop in a bag or leave on a desk for a little pick-me-up.

Ink:  Palette Noir

Other:  unbleached muslin, rhinestone, MM trim, Smooch Spray, edge distresser

Ugh...

My creative mojo has gone missing again.  I couldn't even find it for a class that I'm teaching tonight!  And even though it is against my better judgment, I'm going to share these not-so-hot cards with y'all today.

First up, my "Love ya' bots" (get it, love ya' lots) card... very cute play on words me thinks, but the card kinda sucks.  It was really late at night, and wasn't feelin' it.

Next up, a card that started out wonderful and ended up as a whoopsie.  I'm going to do it over again, and this time I'm gonna leave off the vertical hearts & the three dots on the right.  And I'm gonna make sure that the cute little owl is centered.

And believe it or not, the pinks really do match in person.  Once again, my sucky photo-taking skills show up.  But I'm moving on!

This last one, I actually like a little bit.  Next time I might not make as many heart balloons, but otherwise, it's pretty cute.

 

I paper-pieced the car & colored the rest with Prismacolor pencils & mineral oil blending.  I masked the heart balloons and drew in the streamers &  mini-heart exhaust.  And of course, Stickles glitter glue is my friend  :)

Yeah, it's me... can you freakin' believe it?!  I know. I know... I've totally been slacking.  BUT I have been very busy working... two jobs, plus TAC, plus my Hostess Club, plus planning classes that I'm going to start teaching, plus...  Oy.  I'm tired just writing all of that :)  Needless to say, my mojo has gone on a very long hiatus.  My last Hostess Club/class night didn't even have brand new stuff... nope, they were similar to projects that I had done before, but they were new to the ladies.

How do you like this "fluffy" girl?  You know: "I'm not fat... I'm fluffy" :)  I think she's pretty darn cute... in fact she looks more like an adult than a kid.  But how many adults still hold their teddy bears?  Wait.  Don't tell me... it might scare me a little ;)

Copic Color Caboodles Marker Clubs

Isn't she sweet?  This cutie patootie image is one of the new Hostess sets from The Angel Company.  Love her!  I paired her with the Angelee paper line and created a tall skinny card for a little change of pace.  Me likey.

And finally a little foof!  Why-o-WHY haven't I been reaching for my beautimous ribbons?  And check out the bow.  My wunnerful buddy Michelle McD (yes, MISS Angel of the Year herself) was using a "Bow Easy" contraption last weekend and it caused me to dig mine out this week :)   {psssst... luv u Michelle :)}  Of course I had to rack my brain trying to remember how she did it... I STILL don't think I got it right, but whatever I did worked.

I know I've been MIA lately, but for whatever reason I've got Halloween on the brain.  I DO have several non-Halloweenie images colored up just begging me to finish a freakin' card with one of them... now to just do it :)

OH!  I never even really talked about the fun Angel gathering last weekend.  Good grief.  Had a blast... loads of laughs, a ton of inspiring projects (thanks Heather & Lori!) and did a little coloring, too :)  Can't wait for the next one!

Paper Scrap Pile Free-For-All!

Ok, kids. It's time to have some fun at the Foster's :)

On June 6th from 10am 'til whenever (Cindy stayed until 10pm or 11pm last time!), it will be Paper Scrap Pile Madness! Last time we did this, everyone had a blast, and it really got everyone in the mode to use those scraps! Here are the details:

Please bring: a small snack to share, paper trimmer, scissors, adhesives, black ink pad, ribbons and embellishments, and cardstock (for bases & stamped images) for however many cards you want to complete. DO NOT bring ANY pattern paper!! The ONLY decorative paper or colored cardstock you may use MUST BE DUG OUT OF MY SCRAP PILE!! The only pristine-never-before-cut cardstock allowed is the stuff you bring for your bases and stamped images. I may even have a contest or two... you just never know :)

If you have a specific coloring medium you prefer, please bring that along, but I will have Palette Ink pads, punches, and stamps for you to use!

Please let me know by Friday, May 29th if you'd like to join the fun. What's the cost? IT'S FREE!! I just want to get my mountain of scraps turned into a mole hill :) We really had a great time last time, and it was so neat to see what everyone came up with by just using scraps. So if you are in the area, please join us!! I'm located in Gardner, Kansas which is about 30 miles southwest of downtown Kandsas City... I've even got a couple of people coming from Topeka and Lee's Summit, Missouri, which are about an hour away so Mapquest me!!

I should be cleaning...

... but instead I decided to post a little sumpin' sumpin' :) How about another Christmas card, today? I'm still WAY behind in my Paper Wings Christmas Card Club... but, that's me... nothing like waiting until the last minute. Kind of like me waiting until today to throw together another Mother's Day card... I'll try to remember to share that next time I post.

I tried to create a card that would be quick to reproduce, but still have a little oomph :) I LOVE this Vintage Christmas set... it's so retro {in a good way :) }... and I used a sentiment from Holiday Cheer (love the font) and popped it up on foam tape.

I stamped the ornaments in Toile Pink & Ballet Blue Palette inks, and topped them off with a little Crystal Stickles (oooooo... glittery...). I used Lilly Anna, Reece, and White UltraSmooth cardstocks, and my FAVORITE ribbon: Amberley Grace's fatty ocean blue satin (yummy!).

I'm hoping to rock-n-roll through a dozen or so of these this month to try & catch up! But I've also got Seminar trades to work on (can't wait for late June!!), my Winger DT assignment, my monthly classes (next week!!!), and I've got one more Art Share to complete. Not to mention all of the other mundane to-do's we all have... FUN TIMES!

Hostess Club Announcement

Sorry for another quickie, pictureless post, but I keep forgetting to send this announcement and now it is crunch time!! I'm getting ready to leave w/ my BFF Laurie, to visit my BFF Cindy, in Topeka... they have graciously agreed to help me with my booth at the ERC Crop tomorrow! If you want to come and see me, I love visitors!! [... and I totally don't mean that in a prison inmate or asylum patient kind of way] :) The ERC Crop & Shop will be held at the Holiday Inn Holidome at 6th and Fairlawn... starting at 8:30 am!!

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Every month we get together and make a variety of projects like cards, scrap pages, altered items, etc. My Stamp Clubs are usually the first to know about upcoming specials and new techniques!

On Club Night, I’ll have a project or two lined up. I bring the bulk of the materials. You’ll need to bring your own adhesive and scissors. You can use any of my products I have for free (stamps, ink, etc.)! All you have to do is place an order for TAC products. The cost & duration depends on how many sign up. Each Stamp Club session lasts for as many months as there are members. For example, if seven sign up, the cost would only be approximately a $20 order and the duration would be seven months! Each member takes a turn being a hostess and reaping all of the hostess benefits!! {you do not have to pay your minimum when it is your hostess month!}

Once you sign up, you must agree to go through the entire round, so that it is fair to the other members. If you are unable to physically make it to a meeting, you are still required to fulfill your minimum purchase… I just request that you email me the order that week, and I can take debit/credit cards over the phone/email, or I can have you drop off a check (whichever is easiest for you!).

If you do not live near either location, and would still like to receive project kits and/or join the club & have your order shipped to you, I would be more than happy to accomodate you!

Double quickie...

Happy Friday! And VERY happy Friday to me since I'm not in the office today :) You'll be getting a two-fer today, yep, two cards in one post. Don't get too excited... they are VERY simple and quick cards with limited supplies.

The first one was a card from my class night on Wednesday. Perfect 'girly' card... soft, pastel, with a POP of color :)

Stamps: Swirlies, Forever, Feel Better (Hostess Level A set)

Paper: White UltraSmooth, Mia's Cottage Cardstock

Ink: VersaMark

Other: Shimmers Chalk Kit, misc. ribbon

Simply stamp in VersaMark and rub the chalk over the entire area. The VM picks up more of the chalk and causes it to really pop! The little bit left over the non-VM areas just adds to the soft look surrounding the image.

Oooooooo... pretty :)

The second card is geared toward the guys. I've never been very good at working with reds... if you look at most of my past posts, you can REALLY tell that I don't work with it. So I'm not crazy about this one. I do like the rick rack over the ribbon and the button.

Stamps: Forever, and two retired TAC stamps

Paper: TAC's Scarlet & Basic Black cardstocks

Ink: Palette Noir

Other: White Scrapper's Floss, misc. ribbons & button

I had a tiny piece of this very cool black & white striped ribbon and HAD to use it. So, I sucked it up and dove into the whole red-black-white combo. Very simple & tailored looking... great for the dude in your life :)

Winter quickie...

Real quick post tonight... I'm pretty tuckered out :) ...

My fellow AngelHood1 sis, Angela, had this awesome card on her blog, and I just had to CASE it! My Hostess Club ladies loved the card, too, so a big huge THANK YOU ANGELA!!!

Stamps: Ornamental Snowflakes, Trendy Greetings
Paper: TAC's basic navy cardstock, misc. grey cardstock
Ink: VersaMark, VersaMagic Night Sky
Other: misc. ribbon, navy embossing powder, hydra sponge

I varied the technique just a bit... using the reverse masking technique, I stamped some of the snowflakes in VersaMark, then sponged with Night Sky & blended to get the orb-like look. Then stamped a few more snowflakes with Night Sky. Stamped large snowflake in VersaMark and heat embossed a navy powder. Applied a little ribbon and stamped sentiment... boom... done.

This would make a great card for mailing purposes since it is so flat... no buttons or brads to hang up those precious postal machines!!

Tis the Season...

Time to gear up for Christmas card craziness! Last year, I did pretty well at making a few here and there so that I was not madly scrambling at the last minute to finish. This year... ummm... not so much. ;) I'm sure I'll have quite a few left over from the Edgerton PTO holiday vendor faire... cards just don't go over well there.

Anyhoo, to start getting in the mood, I thought I'd share one of the cards we'll be doing in my Hostess Club this week. I will apologize now for the yucky pictures... I've GOT to get me a light tent or something, because the true color just doesn't show up in these photos.

Winter Holiday Stamp-a-Stack Info!!!

Ok, so I didn't get all of my stuff done that I needed to so that I could post something fun tonight :( But I DID get my project done for tomorrow's Halloween Angel Art Challenge! It turned out pretty cute, so check back tomorrow morning!!

November Creative Class Night:
November is going to be all about WINTER HOLIDAY CARDS and tags! Yep… once I can get past October 31st, I can start getting into the Winter Holiday mode!! Here are the details:

When: Tuesday, November 11th @ 7pm

Why: Because it is fun fun fun!
Cost: Class cost varies from $8-$10 depending on how much we’ll be doing.
What to bring: Please bring your own adhesive (tape & glue), pop dots or foam tape, scissors, and bone folder… I’ll have everything else cut and ready for you!

Winter Stamp-A-Stack:
On November 22nd, I’ll open my house all day for you to come over and stamp a stack of Winter Holiday cards… I’ll have it set up similar to last year’s where there are three separate ‘stations’ and you can create at your own pace. We’ll be making four each of three different designs for a total of 12 cards for only $21… that’s only $1.75 per card! And if you’ve been to my classes or hostess clubs before, or visited my blog, you know that I do not skimp on the loveliness!!

When: Saturday, November 22nd from 10am-4pm

These photos were from last year... I'll be taking photos of THIS year's Halloween on Friday... and yes, I DID take the day off!! The guys from the office know that this is my day, and there is NO WAY I work on Oct. 31... that's just how I roll. :)

Hostess Club Night & a Halloweenie Treatie...

I just got home from a trip to the stylist, and I almost feel human again... now that I have short hair, I swear it grows twice as fast... and those pesky grays mixed with dark brunette is just NOT me!! :) The crazy orange-red is much more in sync with my personality [insert raised eyebrow and sheepish grin here].

I don't know what happened, but I swear my calendar blew up and I have had ZERO creative time! I am so bummed. At least the hubby FINALLY hauled all of my Halloween stuff up (well most of it... he did miss two of the COOLEST things and he'll have to fix that soon!). OH! There's the garage door opener... maybe he'll grab the last goodies now!! [another raised eyebrow] Yes, he is, but he is not happy about it... poor Poot...

One of the COOL things is the awesome witch hat in the first photo... definitely one of my favorite purchases last year.

Anyway, my Hostess Club ladies were here last night and they re-created my Batty Moon coaster project. My photo really sucks, but they turned out great in real life!

And, as a bonus, Julie made everyone a little Halloweenie treatie! Last month I showed them how to do the sour cream containers from the SCS tutorial, and everyone loved them... Julie even bought a crimper so she could do more (as did Cindy). I really like it when people get excited about a project... it makes me feel like I actually contributed something!

I'm crossing my fingers that I'll get to work on something tomorrow night. My Saturday is TOTALLY BOOKED with Shriner activities because it's Fall Ceremonial. I will be going to the Ladies' Luncheon with my mom, which is always nice, at one of the MANY country clubs in KC (what is it about golf... I just don't get it). There is always a large turnout for the luncheon, and I'll get to see some faces that I haven't in awhile [I've been a very bad Shrine Lady this year... not going to many functions, etc.: bad bad bad].

Side note: I've had a couple of people ask me how I make my seasoned olive oil, so I'll share that next time, too!

Hostess Club Night and my babies...

Tonight was the first night of the new round of Stamp Club! I think everyone really enjoyed themselves... it's a nice time to catch up w/ family happenings, see new pictures of babies (my favorite!), and get a little stamping time in, too! Julie, one of the gals in the club, was a winner of TAC's Toodle Loo package giveaway (yeay!) and she brought the CUTEST little chipboard book/album she made... freakin' adorable. Yes, I'm an idiot and didn't think to take a picture, so hopefully she'll send me one (hint, hint).

I DID manage to take a photo of one of the projects the ladies did tonight... the Brewin' Dark Angel card that I had posted earlier! I switched up the colors this time, and I really like it! I love seeing how different each one is even though all the cards use the same elements. The photo really doesn't capture the great coloring everyone did!

Hopefully I'll be motivated to create something tomorrow night... I hope so!

In closing, I thought I'd share a couple of pics of MY babies, Heidi & Thor. They are THE cutest babies ever! [Heidi is the blonde, Thor is the redhead] Thor always has to have his nose covered, and Heidi tends to nap at the edge of the stairs.

Bah humbug?

I'm trying to get into the holiday spirit... but it is so stressful. I don't really even enjoy them anymore because of all of the rushing around, drama, and commercialism... it's damn near depressing sometimes. So, to try to counter-act some o' that, I've been trying to be creative. This is a little wooden ornament frame that we did at this month's class at my house. The ribbon & frame is from JoAnn's... it was a little tough popping the tree off, but I got it! It is covered with the VintageHoliday paper that is no longer available (sorry), Bazzill cardstock, sentiment is from HolidayMagic, and of course there is Stickles!!! This makes a great inexpensive gift, and I bet it would be even cuter in our MerryWishes paper (I'm waiting for my order to get here!!!).

I know, I know...

Where the heck have I been? I was doing so well at keeping up and then BOOM! Nothing. Well, I have been busy getting my monthly class materials prepared, as well as everything needed for my Stamp-a-Stack on Saturday. I still have a ton of stuff to do for the holiday mart on December 1st, my 'regular' job, Shriners' activities, etc. Yikes. No wonder everyone gets stressed this time of year... look how busy everyone is! And I don't even have kids! I can't even imagine throwing that one in there, too... dang!

OMG! My hairdresser went crazy...

My cousin, Jody, cut my hair tonight... don't worry, she went to school for it and everything, but I think she went a little scissor-happy this evening. I love her to pieces, and I know it takes time to get used to a 'new do'... but holy bejeezus! I'm hoping after I color it and it has a chance to calm down after a few days that I will like it better... right now my hair is a little bit ANGRY. I'm used to long hair, as in past my shoulders. Now, I can barely tuck it behind my ear! yikers.

What a day....

I am soooooooo ready for Halloween, as you can tell by the cards above that I created for my monthly class.

So, back to my day. They are still re-roofing our office building and today it reeked sooooo bad that I called the boss, and I must have whined enough because he said to take the laptop home to work on my residential projects. I don't know how those roofing guys stand it all day long, day after day. I think my lungs would explode... but then again, I am a bit of a wussy. Although, my male co-worker must be one too, because he was more than happy to work from home, too!

I actually got quite a bit of work done... I think it is because there aren't as many distractions here. You know, like the phone ringing, roofers hammering and dropping crap just above you, and co-workers acting like little brothers. If it gets bad tomorrow, though, I don't know that the boss will give in again.

Anyway, I also uploaded a canvas that I did as a tribute to my grampa. He has been a carpenter forever! I'm going to hang it up in my living room as soon as I figure out where everything should go. I just haven't made myself hang anything up yet (we just finished putting in slate floor & painted the walls). Sometime in the next month is HAS TO HAPPEN!
