It's an addiction... and a little Blog Giveaway...

Yep.  I'll admit it.  Right out loud.

I am a ribbon addict.

The scary thing is that I really pared my buying back since I haven't had time to do any personal crafting.  Imagine if I hadn't been teaching classes and was just buying ribbon all willy-nilly like I used to!  Yikes.  Here is a shot of my "loose" ribbon that I decided to re-organize:

I'm telling you, it's a sickness... seriously.  Well, to better use my loose ribbon I thought I would organize it by color & have it in front of my face at my desk.

A few years back I bought these metal hot-air balloon decor items:

I've been hanging my ribbon from them for years, but I finally organized by color

I still have the roll racks & jars to go through, but for now at least I have this bit o' beautimousness next to my desk:

Ooooooooo... so pretty!  Lover-ly webbed trim & ribbon rose trims are among my faves.

I also need to re-organize all of the embellishments hanging above, but that is for another day.

BUT, to celebrate my re-org, I forced myself to part with a healthy bit of ribbon and am giving it away to one lucky person:

That, my friends, is a 16" diameter by 3" thick (at least!) pile o' ribbon salad!

Chicago CHA 2011 trip recap and TAC stamp set candy winner! (VERY long post)

Oh My Gawd, Becky.  It was so awesome :)  I was so lucky to have been one of the instructors from The Scrapbook Page that was able to attend CHA this summer!  Thanks Cameron & Carolyn!!!  I had never been to CHA before, though I always read about it on the net.... the only bad part was that we couldn't take the new stuff home with us :(  The bosses asked us to make a list of what we thought would be good sellers... our lists were LLLLLOOOOONNNNNGGGG!

It was complete crafty-sensory overload for me, so I didn't snap many pictures.  I have a few from my phone, but they are out of focus (my first time using the camera on it)... I'll post them here anyway :)

I was SO glad to see so many creepily-elegant Halloween themed lines this year!  I'm not one for cutesy, though they still had plenty of those, but there were a ton of grown-up Halloween lines.

I was also over-the-top lucky to attend the two Ranger classes taught by Tim Holtz!  He was a fantastic instructor, had each step timed perfectly, was very well organized and really fun, too :)  Not only were the class projects awesome, but the amount of product we walked away with was un-freakin'-believable!  Check it out:

(not all of this is from the Ranger classes... but a BIG part of it is... hellooooo, a Melting Pot!  And those big plastic bags are STUFFED full of paint, ink, tools, UTEE, art supplies and more!)

I also took the 7 Gypsies altered tray class... it is probably my favorite project of the entire week (sorry no pic).  Easy to do and not very time-consuming.  The fabric binding tape isn't sticking as well as I'd hope, but it's probably due to the humidity around here (hello summer... when are you leaving?!!).

Had one downer of a class, but the products we received were awesome!  The class wasn't structured, the focal product wasn't shipped by the manufacturer, and the mixed-media project was just too complex for the setting.

I didn't do my Faber-Castell Gelatos / Maya Road canvas album because I wanted more time to play at home.  LOVE the products, and the project is very cool.  Not a papercrafting project... more mixed media.

I took a couple of seminar-type classes... one on copyrights and the other was how to present/teach on tv.  I thought the presentation one would give me a few hints to better present/instruct at my classes, but no... it was more like "how to present on HSN", "don't wear red or white" type stuff.  The copyright seminar was very informative.

Whew, right?  One more quick announcement... the random drawing winner of the TAC stamp set candy that I had blogged about early in July is:  TRINA!  Email me with your snail-mail address so I can send that out to you!

I also received a HUGE mound of rubbah stamps from TAC this week... I couldn't wait to redeem my gift certificates from Seminar, plus some of the sets with which I designed samples for the catalogue were in there :)

It's gonna take awhile to cut them all out, but what BLISS!!

March of the Snowmen Blog Hop!

Studio60 Celebration Challenge!

Ok kids... a bit of fun today!  Sony Rivera over at Sonia-Studio60, who is just the sweetest gal, has asked me to co-host a birthday celebration challenge!  Her mother & daughter both have birthdays in the summer, so she wanted to spread the joy :)

Yeay... right? Let's see what is up for grabs today:

A 6x6 sampler of the entire Mia's Cottage SWIC & Coordinating Cardstocks, 5 Mia's tags, a handful of eyelets, brads & buttons, a couple of paper flowers, a couple of lengths of Mia's Cottage ribbons, a card made by moi :), a small "just because" stamp, a small version of Fancy Curls stamp set, a complete Mini-Meander Book kit with instructions made with a retired TAC paper collection (boyish), a few stamped TAC images (some heat embossed), and a retired stamp set called Sophisticated Flowers.

I cut out the big stamp set and stamped the image you see... that's the ONLY time it was used. Then I thought maybe the winner wouldn't want the stamps mounted on the cling (although, I'm not sure why), so I left them alone. Should the winner want me to do so, I would be more than happy to mount the other stamps on cling and cut them out... that's just how I roll :)

Mod-Vintage Birdie in a Cage...

I've been wanting to play with this new BirdCage stamp set, and finally got a chance yesterday! I had a card base already made from a piece of Hemingway cardstock and was planning on doing some paper piercing... yeah, I know... there isn't one single pierced hole on this!! Funny how things totally turn around, isn't it?

Anyway, I love the retro top to the Happy Birthday sign from Hotel Signs, so I started with that in VersaMark. Then I stamped the Script Background twice on the right side with VersaMark, to create a subtle patterned base. I layered a scrap of old lace to divide the two images. I edged the entire card front with Burnt Umber Palette.

I stamped the birdcage in Burnt Umber on White UltraSmooth cardstock, added a bit of pink from a Copic marker, and edged it first in Belle Rose Palette and then again in Burnt Umber. I layered this on a bit of pink cardstock from Bazzill Monochromatic Reds. This panel is then popped up on Pop Dots.

Next up, this yummy pink velvet ribbon (I can't remember who the manufacturer is) & sheer organza from the Willoughby Ribbon collection. I topped it all off with a flower & buttons from the Lemonade Blossoms & Buttons and Audrey Embellishment Jar, tied with White Scrapper's Floss.

I think it looks a little Mod-Vintage...
