Yoooou Whoooo, over here....

How's this for a little sumpin' different?!

What do you think?! This is the card I made for a 'Twisted' swap over at PaperWings. Card base is from the Bazzill Monochromatic Reds. I used TAC's Punctuation for stocking, garter and shoe straps. The stocking accent is from a current hostess set Swoops&Swirls. 'Delight...' sentiments are from RubADubDub, and 'unforgettable' is from FisForFamily. I drew the leg freehand on some tan cardstock and then stippled Palette Noir for the stocking. I used a black marker to color the heel & sole of the stilletto. A brass snap and little snippet of ribbon finish off the garter. I found the ribbon at Michael's $1 bin and knew it was perfect for this card... very vintage-lingerie looking.

If you go to the PaperWings gallery, go look at the Twisted swap album! These ladies are a hoot... the only thing is that the inside of a couple of the cards are what REALLY make the cards Twisted and they are not shown in the album. If you're interested in knowing what they say, leave me a comment and I'll post them next time!

Halloween already?

Thought I'd share my 1st prize winner from Saturday! There are several different stamp companies represented in addition to TAC, and I'm embarrassed to say that I don't know the names, but I'm sharing anyway! I purchased several of them at past stamp conventions, and half the time they don't put a card or anything in the bag with their name on it.

I think the tree is from Stamp Oasis, the creepy skeleton scene is one I got from Ebay, the broom is from BattleAxe, 'Believe in Magic' is from Viva Las Vegas, spider web and bats are from TAC. The crow and tombstones are from the same place (convention), and the 'If the broom fits...ride it' is another convention stamp.

Majority of the ribbon is from Martha Stewart, Target, and some misc. fiber. Scrapper's floss and Stickles are absolute musts! Transparent tags & fence from MM, and 'creepy crawly' tag is I-kandee. I dyed the shipping tag with Terra Cotta spray ink. VersaMark, Noir Palette, and Moonlight White Brilliance were the inks. I need to check to see who manufactured all the papers...

I really like this! What do you think?

Croppin'....

Here is the other prop I received in the recent swap:

This was done by Angie Secrest and is an altered wooden picture frame. It is so pretty! Angie used Sands of Time paper, a white floral, and a little posie. I love this! I need to find out what she used to stain the rest of the wood... it's a very light 'honey' color. This is one of my favorite papers... in fact, it was the product I chose to use when I taught my very first in-home class! Now I have to find JUST the right photo for it!

In other news...

I was at a 15 hour crop yesterday, and had a blast! My friends, Cindy (aka Croppin' Cuddy) & Kellie, and I all went to the Diva Designs Crop in Olathe. We were laughing almost the whole time... well, let's just say that I didn't get a lot of scrapping done! Then again, I rarely do! I had every intention of working on a Halloween album (imagine that) using one of the SEI 8.5 x 5.5 books. Yeah... got the COVER PAGE done! I DID also create another meander book (halloweenie), and participated in (and won first prize for!) a mini-book contest from the Diva's... Cindy got 2nd prize!!! Yes... we had the winning table, baby! I'll have to photograph that on a brighter day and upload some photos. It turned out pretty cool. I only brought halloweenie stuff to work on, thinking that my tote would somehow be lighter... uh, no... not so much. I need to learn how to pre-plan for crops, but I never know what I'll want to work on... I hate to force myself to work on something, KWIM?

Well, I'm off to put all my crap away from the crop... I'm still tired. How could I get the hubby to do some laundry???

I want to be a kept woman...........

Sorry, had to get that out of my system. Last weekend and this week have been really bad for me... I just can't get out of the funk I'm in. I had a mini-melt-down Sunday... yikes. I won't get into all of it here, so I'll just refer you back to the title of post.

Seriously, I need an actual vacation. Not just a long weekend, which I haven't had in a while either, but a real vacation. I'd like it if Poot & I could get away... no family... no work... no friends... just us. I want to not have to worry about meeting a deadline, or who's call I have to return, or 'what style of front elevation would you like with that?' I want to be able to actually smile without having to force it. I want to not worry about how filthy my house is or how high the laundy pile is (which is ginormous by the way).

OMG! Snap out of it! Let us quickly turn to some upbeat stuff!

So, to lighten the convo, here is one of the props I received from the recent swap I participated in:

This was done by Kim Sears. It is a Juliette ensemble. She made a 4x4 card, a magnet made from a Formica chip, and a little 4-drawer box made from two coasters & four match boxes! Absolutely adorable!

Froggie Prop Swap

What do you think of this one? This is the other prop I made. It's a little mini-album that fits inside a little screw-top acrylic container (you know the kind that you can keep adding more by screwing them together). In the bottom of the container, I created a shaker box by adding beads, micro beads, and sealing the bottom up with a large scallop of paper... I like how there is a little frog at the bottom, too. The album is double-sided with ribbon between layers. The decoration on the top is covered chipboard circles & bug that have been pop-dotted up.
.
That's all for now... nothing exciting going on in my life right now... big surprise!

gotta gimme my props....

Time to share the first of two Prop Swap creations I did for a recent swap... I'll also post the ones that I get in return later! Anyhoo, this one was for Susan and is an altered wooden bag. I thought it would be great to keep notecards & envelopes in.

I used Kamalaht paper from TAC, AlphaGrunge for the monogram, TagTidbits, TrendyGreetings, and FloralDingbats. Inks were: BurntUmber, Cognac, & PrussianBlue Palettes. The ribbon is from Michael's. I also stained the inside of the box with WalnutInk spray.

I really like the way it turned out. I have plenty of the paper left and one more of the wooden bags, so I need to make one for myself now! What do you think?

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.......

I came home tonight from work and immediately took a nap... is that sad? I am still tired! At least my back is on it's way back to normal... I don't know what I did, but it was messed up... maybe I slept funny or something. I love going to the chiropractor... the only type of doctor I like ;) . My favorite is when my neck pops... I just want to lay there afterward and relax.

I'm back on the kick of wanting to be a kept woman again... I know it hasn't been THAT long since I mentioned it, but it's still out there!

Friday night I will be going to Topeka to crop with my friend Cindy and will be there through Saturday. Can't wait! Next Tuesday & Wednesday I'll be teaching class at my house. We're doing a mini-chipboard frame project I learned at the Winter RoundUp in Salina [great project, Heather! Thanks for designing it!]

Saturday the 12th I'm going to the Diva Designs Crop... it's in Olathe this time... I've only been to one of their crops and it was in Topeka. Should be fun. The 19th I'll be presenting a FunShop to my friend Kellie and then we'll all stay and crop at her house all day. With all of these crops I'm going to be attending, I'd better be getting some pages done!!! The 23rd I'm going to Jennifer's for a shoebox party for the Gardner Stamp Club... I need to figure out what I'll be making for that! Man, I know I'm forgetting a bunch of other activities, but that's all I can remember off the top of my head!
For TAC specials this month, click here and here! Don't forget that there are still double benefits this month!!
I'll leave you with a card I designed to use up some scraps:

I used JulietteFlorals and ThankYou (hostess set) stamp sets, VersaMark, BurntUmber Palette, Juliette SWI & cardstock collection. The sentiment is elevated with a pop dot for dimension. The inside has stamping, too! In VersaMark, I stamped another floral and additional sentiment.
