How about a little color study today?!

Sound good?!

[in unison: 'yes, Barb... that would be delightful'] :)

I've had this funky disco-esque beaded trim from JoAnn's for quite some time now, and all of a sudden yesterday it started screaming at me. Well, not literally... although, it does look like it could have a bit of a 'tude, doesn't it?

Ugh... someone keep me on track! ANYWAY... the ribbon part & seed beads are a chartreuse-lemon green color, and the disco-oval shapes are iridescent. Sometimes they look yellow, chartreuse, peach, coral, or pink... CRAZY, I know... why else would I pick these up, right? :) So, I'm diggin' around in my scrap pile (as in 'dig it'... ya' know, like, 'groovy'... OMG make me stop) and I found a plethora of possibilities, baby!

First up, this teal, chartreuse and orange number. I had the teal Bazzill card base ready and plopped the trim over it for a lookie-see. Loved it! Found the striped scrap (Simply Spooky paper) and it matched the ribbon perfectly. The light coral-peach strip of cardstock really brings out those colors in the disco hoops. You'll never be able to tell in the photos, so you'll have to trust me :)

Anyway, the way this was laying out, I needed to find a groovy flower element (stop it) to fit the theme... hello Essential Elements chipboard!! I covered it with a bit of Tutti Frutti paper and then 'dyed' a center piece with VersaMagic Oasis Green chalk ink. I stamped the sentiment (from the Hostess set Just For You) in Moonlight White Brilliance. I had tried it before with a chartreuse VersaMagic, but it just didn't show up so I overstamped and it lined up perfectly!!

So, now we'll see how the exact same layout & beaded trim looks with a TOTALLY different color scheme...

Hello, pinkie. Crazy, no?! I used a very light blush pink, slightly darker pink, and pumpkin cardstocks (Bazzill). Introduced a punch of color with an oval tag from Cha Cha (yes, Cha Cha... I couldn't believe it either until I noticed that chartreuse trim brought out the leaf in the tag). Edged the flower & dyed the center with Belle Rose Palette ink. I finished by stamping the sentiment in Pumpkin VersaMagic.

Ta-da! I love both of these. Very simple layout, same trim, but very different feel.

What do you think?
How about another CHALLENGE?? Create two cards using the exact same layout, one exact same element (ie: ribbon, trim, etc.), but with TOTALLY different color schemes. Post a comment with a link to your post & I'll share them all in a post Sunday or Monday (Dec. 7th or 8th)!!

What fun cards! I remember the disco era and John Travolta dancing in Saturday Night Live! What a hoot! Anyway, I think both cards are great!
