Grunge Meets Glamour - Uptown Tin Barrel Purse

ETA: you need to head over to papercrafts by rach for some yummy blog candy!!!

Glitter and grunge times 10! I can't believe it's finally done! I'm going to include a bunch of photos today, but it really looks better in real life :)

I started with a pre-painted tin purse I picked up from Wal-mart LAST Valentine's Day season. It had a horrible painted graphic of hearts, so I sanded it lightly and applied some white acrylic paint.

Yeah, it was like that for about 9 or 10 months (I'm so bad). Finally, I picked it up off the shelf and worked into the wee hours of the morning!

The main focus is the paper (of course!) and it is Uptown Girl from The Angel Company. I used PVA and Mod Podge to affix the paper.

Then started painting & inking different areas to grunge it up. I even mixed in some pink glitter w/ the Mod Podge on parts of it. There is glitter everywhere in my studio... even on the fur-babies!

I LOVE how the hardware turned out. Originally it was all bright and shiny... not anymore! :)

I used a TON of different products, so if there is something specific, just ask and I'll try to figure out who manufactures it!

I know there is stuff from MM, Melissa Frances, Heidi Swapp, Tim Holtz, Heidi Grace, Bazzill, AMM, WeR MM, Creative Imaginations, Doodlebug, etc.

I don't know what I'm going to put inside of it yet, but when you combine the sentiments of the tags on the handle and the side, they say: create... pure... passion.

I felt like that when I was really getting into parts of this piece... passionate. I didn't want to go to sleep... I wanted to just keep going... I love it when that happens.

It makes you feel like you really are creating something meaningful... art.

What is your favorite part of this piece?

What do you think?

My daughter would go crazy for this! I don't blame ya for waiting a year to make it, I picked up a advent house at Target 75% off and I plan on making it next Nov! LOL! I think my favorite part is the piece where it has the pure passion together. Great job on this!
