Black Friday card quickie...

This is the first year in a long time that I haven't been one of the brave, or should we say CRAZY, people to venture out on Black Friday.  It helps that I don't have any spending money this year :)

No, this year we will not be exchanging gifts... well not a lot... a couple of my very dear friends and I DID make a deal that we are only making handmade items with materials we already have on hand.  I haven't started mine yet :)  I don't even have an idea yet.  Scary.

Anyway, today I'm sharing a Christmas card quickie.  No layers!  I also wanted to show how different the same image can look depending on the coloring medium.  The reindeer image is from a retired TAC set called Christmas Fun, sentiment from Holiday Cheer, I used the Scor-Pal & Scor-Bug (again), and the ink is Memento Tuxedo.

This one is colored with Prismacolor pencils blended with mineral oil using artist blending stumps.  I'm able to get a large range of color & shading with pencils at a reasonable price.  We all know this is my favorite coloring medium :)

This one was done with Copic markers.  I know I could have done better had I owned a larger range of browns.  I do like how this reindeer looks fuzzy (furry)... this is achieved by going back over the brown with the colorless blender in a dotting pattern.  I've seen some great examples on the net using this method with a larger color range and they look so much better.

What do you think?

I like them both, but you know me, my fave medium is colored pencils, so the Prismacolors is #1 for me!!! Cute card, Ms. Barb!!! Hope your Turkey day was fabulous! Ours was delightful. DS came in from Calif., and we were blessed to have both he and DD here for supper last night!

after seeing this i am wondering if i should not have ordered copic's today. ordered my first set, ugh. if i don't like them i have the perfect person to give them to for christmas--a real artist. i prefer the one you did with good old fashioned colored pencils barb! ;)

Really prefer the pencils and MO,
just a lighter look. But the copic/blender does look furry.
Love the card with scorepal and bug details.

Today was the first time I ever ventured out - only because my 13 year old pestered me into it. Too crowded!! :(

I love your card...pencil is my favorite but I'm sure you will convince us otherwise with copics! :) Have a super weekend!

Great coloring on both, but the one done with pencils is my favorite.

I have and never used this stamp. You make it sooo adorable! My fav is the Prismacolor pencils.

I have copics, love them, but your right unless you have lots and lots hard to do the really cool blending of colors.
